Andy Slater joins Element 2 to lead its Engineering practice

Element 2, the UK’s leading hydrogen refuelling business, has today announced the appointment of Andy Slater as Head of Engineering and Asset Management, as the company grows its hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) network across the UK and Ireland.

Andy joins from Bosch Rexroth where he was Project Manager, responsible for bespoke hydraulic projects from tendering, right through to design approval, manufacture, testing, delivery/install and commissioning. Previous roles over his 20+ year career include Senior Project roles at BOC Gases, where Andy was involved with the development and management of some of BOC’s most complex gas system deployments, including cryogenic and gaseous installations for both fuel cell and large internal combustion engine vehicles. Prior to this, Andy held various roles at  ITM Power and has experience delivering projects seeking to develop and commercialise the use of hydrogen for various applications.

In his role at Element 2, Andy will lead the firm’s engineering strategy alongside managing the safe and timely deployment and operation of our portfolio of refuelling stations. He will report to James Harris, Element 2’s Chief Operating Officer.

James Harris, Chief Operating Officer, Element 2, said: “Andy’s exceptional engineering background is a great fit for Element 2 as we rapidly scale our refuelling operations. I’m looking forward to working together to further develop the class-leading quality, asset performance and safety cultures that make our brand so strong.”

Andy Slater, Head of Engineering and Asset Management, Element 2 commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Element 2. Its mission – to make diesel history, with the use of hydrogen – chimes perfectly with my experience in the clean fuels and renewable energy industries. I’ve been an advocate of hydrogen for many years now, and can’t wait to build the UK’s leading HRS network with this outstanding team.”

Element 2 is building the UK’s first network of hydrogen refuelling stations, to enable the rapid transition of heavy road vehicles and municipal fleets to a zero carbon, zero emissions future.
